I had to tear myself away from college football to watch the dog and pony show and it did not disappoint.

Yes the Democratic nomination can speak off a script. I'm give him mad props the man can speak. But really is he qualified to lead the greatest capitalistic country on the planet or do we just want do be some donk country in the socialist EU?

Cut taxes? Are you kidding me? Democrats cutting taxes is a joke. There is a reason that Democrats have had only one re-elected President since the 1940s and it's the American people are not interested in being Socialists.

And you all want change right? Here is some change.

George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.

A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 +
5) Americans were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations abroad, living large!

But Americans wanted 'CHANGE'! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress & yep--we got 'CHANGE' all right. In the PAST YEAR:

1) Consumer confidence has plummeted
2) Gasoline hit an all-time high well over $4 a gallon how high will it hit in '09!
3) Unemployment is up to 6% (a 12% increase)
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS & prices still dropping
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) The Dow is at 11,700 $2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM OUR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!

Do you own a home, invest in your future, care about your job or livelihood? Or are you some liberal do gooder who needs to monitor every ones thoughts, determine what is or is not politically correct, and suck off society or help those that do?

Oh and news flash and this pisses me off to no end: The democratic nomination for president is not BLACK. He's of mixed race. He's half white half black. I know Hollywood is on the mandate to first vote Democrat and second have a black man with a white woman in every show produced and (why never a white man with a black woman), but please stop calling him black, he's of mixed raced!

First Fix of the Year

The first fixed football game of the year.

Jeff Triplett. The most crooked man in the NFL had his squad of refs practcing fixing games tonight.

Dallas a 5' point favorite and the total a monster 43'. The total opened at 40' but all the smart money ran that number up 3 points today. So the public is on Houston plus the points and the over.

Friday

Nothing much new to report. Bad cards and bad luck on the MTT front this week but have stayed level with some cash wins.

Speaking of level the English Premiership starts tomorrow and I am excited about that. I'm also going to take the plunge and bet on a couple games and see how that goes. I killed the European Championships in June so let's see if I can keep the soccer, yes soccer momentum going.

Baseball pennant races are heating up as we get to mid-August. Both the Cardinals and Marlins are still alive but right now the class of the Leagues seem to be Angels and Cubs. I'm sure the Cubs will find a way to choke so I'm not so worried about them.

I've started looking hard into the upcoming football season and I will make a couple season total and Super Bowl plays. I'll let you know what I come up with next week. I can't fucking wait for football to start even though the Canes are rebuilding and the Dolphins blow ass but there is always hope.

Survivor Football

Two more Bodog tournaments two more final tables.

Too bad I got a 7th, when my AK was no match for the always powerful Jack Ace when he flopped broadway and 6th when my JJ lost to AK with the K coming on the river. Oh well, $3K from Bodog in the last three days was much needed.

I've decided to have a contest this year and I'm hoping for a big turnout.



This is open to bloggers, friends, family, friends of friends, whomever wants to take part in a winner take all competition.

For those that don't know, survivor football is you pick one NFL team to win every week. If your team wins the game you move on to the next week, if your team loses or ties you are eliminated. Sounds easy right. The catch is you can only pick a team one time over the course of the season.

Entry fee will be $20 and a contestant can submit up to two entries. My ambitious goal is to have 250 entrants with a $5,000 winner take all first prize. I'm going to run the contest on Yahoo Fantasy.

Now one problem is Yahoo can only hold groups of 50, so we're going to have to do multiple groups provided the need is there. I will "Host" every group as to keep up with the contestants and I will make my picks the same in every group with it being only one entry. (Unless I submit two entries then I will have my two picks in groups 1 and 2 and my group one picks will be every other group)

In the unlikely event more than one contestant goes 17-0 then all prize money will be split. If all the remaining contestants lose in any given week, they will all stay alive for the following week.

Simple enough. Since these are private leagues passwords will be needed. If you are interested in playing send me an email to miamidon@cox.net. Please include team name, mine is Miami Don, number of entries, and method of payment.

This 24 hour Brett Favre shit is driving me more insane than I already am and now he goes to New York of all places so this shit will not stop.

The Jets went 4-12 last year, way overspent in free agency, have a coach that some call genius that I call an idiot (see Clevleand game last year) now they add one of the most overrated QBs of all-time, who turns 39 in October.

Sorry Jet fans but 8 wins might be the limit.

Two years of Favre and 40+ INTs, two 8-8 seasons way underachiving expectations, and Favre and Mangini are run from town as losers. You heard it hear first.

It's still amazing to see the dollar amounts these online sites have thrown at us and now adding a brick and mortar the bar has been set even higher. Thanks again to Al, Smokkee, and Pauly for hosting these events and for the sites that kick in the huge cheddar.

August 1st Part Two

Wow, when I haven't written for a while I've been told to just write. Well I did that and edition 1 has no rhyme or reason.

Michelle Wie. WTF. She has no LPGA tour card, she barely makes cuts on the women's tour when she gets sponsors exemptions, never mind winning yet they continue to invite this side show freak into PGA tour events. Don't get me wrong, she's 18 and I would surely fuck her but why she's playing with the men when she can't compete with the woman is beyond me. Let's be real. Men are the superior sex when it comes to most anything so, take a hike bitch.

Back to the story. It started as a significant August 1st day and it turned into something complete different than where I was going and unfortunately you'll all have to wait to see why August 1st was at one time significant. Regardless that was how I copped. I did it three or four times a day for a long time although there was some breaks in the action. For this August 1st shit there was no break in the action.

My grandma died in January 2005. It was my first family member to go and it also brought up a lot of feelings about my best friend Jeff that died, who I'll get into sometime down the road, but it also stirred up a lot of guilt. My grandma, (Mor Mor pronounced Moo Moo after her Swedish 2nd husband) the good Irish woman that she was, liked to drink and I'm sure I got the "gene," what our huge Irish family likes to call instead of addiction, from her. No hard feelings mind you, in our fucked up family those with the gene had the talent, yet with the talent comes with a broken mind.

My guilt lies with the fact that while I spend my teenage summers in Worcester, it was so hard for me to make the trek to West Boylston to see Mor Mor on a regular basis. I would rather gang bang with my friends, and finger the girls (they didn't put out so much in 1979) that worshipped me up on Grafton Hill than make the drive and have dinner or a drink with my Mor Mor.

Anyway, back to the point. I forgot to mention I got paid on Thursday at 1pm and would go cop immediately and get back in time for work at 5pm. I'd get enough for a shot before work, a shot after work, and I'd be good to go. My money usually carried me through to Sunday night when my check would nearly be gone and I wouldn't use again until Thursday thus avoiding what could have become a serious physical habit...not knowing how bad the psychological habit had become.

What do I see so often...rinse, wash repeat or some shit like that. That was my life. Thursday through Sunday getting and staying high, Monday through Wednesday, obsessing about getting high, hoping that I had $15 left over so I could figure out a way to make a dozen eggs and a bag of potatoes, as well as getting my smokes, make it until Wednesday as I worked in the UPS warehouse.

The fateful day came in February. I got my check and for some reason the page back said, "Nothing until at least tomorrow Hip." Oh fuck. I'd had this one source and it was good as gold man, they had their hours, they always had the product and what quality product it was. Some new kid I'd been running with, which means I was charging him for me to get him his shit, had an idea.

"I've got a connect in Jennings for coke, I'm sure he can hook us up with the dope."

After not saying anything for at least two minutes my addiction took over and off we went to Jennings. Little did I know the horrible consequences of this trip.

August 1st...I'm back and will finish this one...

Lost in a hole. Thankfully most of you are as well. This is not part three but a random Act.

August 1st.

Looking back it means a lot. Same as I shoulda stuck with Gina Blandina or I shoulda put my efforts into baseball instead of drinking, basketball and banging the sistas.

I'm 43 and still lost; thankfully I can look back with some clearity that I can't find even today.

Let's go back to 1995.

I had a good job at UPS, I had a good roommate, and my bills were at most $500 a month. My problem was a six-year hidden heroin habit.

I thought I was all slick that nobody knew. I'd been evicted from two or three apartments already, but only due to bad circumstances. Family and friends had been picking up my pieces although I was oblivious to it.

My heroin addiction was hard core. I was getting my $500 a week check from UPS in Earth City at 1:00pm, cashing it at a check cashing place since no banks would have me, then driving to the North Side to cop. I'd cop at Popeye's Fried Chicken or down a deserted alley way of Redd Foxx Blvd wherever it was they told me.

See back in those days, I'd hit a pager number from a pay phone, and of course the pay phones always had a number and they always called back. No matter where I was and for the most part no matter the time of day the phone would ring back.

"Yo it's Hip," was always my answer as somehow I was dubbed Hippy due to what was my nearly fashionable mullet.

"Where you at" was always the answer.

This time it was a Gas Station just off I-70, straight across from Lambert Field where I could watch planes land at what was once a busy airport.

"Get you some bread, get their in 20," was the answer.

Thankfully it was close and I wasn't going to the South Side or the Central West End.

Get bread meant, off of Broadway, lined up on the side or road, parellel to the Wonder Bread plant in what was then neutral North City. It will be a fun ride since their will be at least ten other cars waiting in line to what will be a run into the Calvary Cementery. The hope was I'd get early in the parade and the hope was I or any one else in the parade wouldn't get jacked.

For the uniformed here is the routine...you would page the man, they'd give you a twenty (location), a time to be there and that meant get ready. Im most cases you'd be twentied with anywhere from four to ten vehicles, which then of course meant an unreal seen.

You'd wait at the "twenty" usually with two to four people in every car and what was always the case was a delay. They'd tell you fifteen minutes it would usually wind up forty minutes to an hours.

So all of us in wait would get out and chit chat once the time became too long. For those of you who had to wait for a dealer, particulary, one how sold opiates, and for those that were sick, the wait is undesribable.

Anway, here come "Slim" driving down the way, and as something you've never seen out of a movie, everyone stops "wraping" and jumps into the car. This shit is no joke, one car drives down the street and suddenly ten cars comes off the side chasing the lead car.

BTW, even though we are all looking to cop some Heroin, there is still an order amongst thieves and that means, just like in poker, we all want to be in first place.

Slims car may run a few stoplights, dart down some back alleys, and for this run he does both eventually running down an abandon street in Calvary Cementary.

The lead car slides to a halt, ten cars, none with any regard to safety, only their own fix in mind, have all been on the tail of on another.

Today I ruled, I was number two and worked hard to push this dyke Cynthia out of the way as we finally crossed the final alley and made out way into the cemetary.

Once the lead car stops three large black men caring baggies get out. Slim, the driver gets out with his AK 47.

What now happens is organized chaos. The first to the dealers give their money, get their goods, and peel out trying to avoid the chaso that has ensued. The rest line up to get their stuff.

As being the lead car, me, JT, and Drunken Pete got our goods, now the question is how far do we go to do our fix. Our outfits, (Everything required to shoot the heroin) is hidden in the car but do we chance stopping in the cementary or do we risk traveling all the way to somewhere, always with the chance we'd get pulled ovdr before we'd shoot the dope...
